Match report Boyne Hill stormed to the top of division 2B with a convincing victory over Burnham 2nds on Saturday.

On a slow damp pitch Burnham elected to bat but only overseas pro Waqar Ahmed was able to adapt to conditions. Wasim Maharoof and Andley Adams struck early to reduce the visitors to 29-3 before Ahmed(46) led a partial recovery hitting 3 large sixes. When he smashed a short ball to Adams at cover Burnham collapsed to the accurate seam of Saj Hussain who bowled with great control to take 5-16. Imran Butt chipped in with 2-8 from 6 overs and Adams ended with 4 catches. Only a last wicket stand of 25 saw Burnham to 3 figures before Hussain wrapped the innings up for 112.

Tom Mellor(40) and James Pauffley(47) began cautiously against the pace and swing of Ahmed and the accurate Salman Chaudhry. The pair then opened out with a succession of boundaries,eventually bringing up a century opening stand. With rain threatening Boyne Hill tried to finish the game quickly losing a couple of wickets in the process before Muji Fernando finished the game with a four through cover.

Boyne Hill picked up 20 points to Burnhams 3 and now sit top of a tight division. This week they are away to Sonning.
