Match report Boyne Hill got their division 2B campaign off to a flying start on Saturday with a comprehensive 7 wicket win over Newbury.

Winning the toss on a damp Boyne Grove wicket Hill elected to bowl and new recruit Wasim Maharoof and South African overseas player Andley Adams made early inroads to reduce Newbury to 25-3. Obdurate opener Ed Uden (34) showed resistance and at 68-3 Newbury threatened a competitive score. Saj Hussain then made the breakthrough and Adams returned to run through the tail ending with fine debut figures of 7-38 from 13 overs as Newbury were skittled for 105. Muji Fernando took 5 dismissals behind the stumps and Imran Butt effected a fine run out.

In reply Boyne Hill began positively with Tom Mellor(30) and James Pauffley(19) adding 43 for the first wicket. Fernando then arrived at the crease looking in sublime form with a quickfire 44 not out including a large 6 over the clubhouse as Hill reached their target in just 21 overs to claim a convincing 20 points. Next week Boyne Hill have a tough game at Chesham,runners up in this division for the past 2 seasons.
