Match report Having sealed promotion to division 5b last week, Boyne Hill 2nd XI confirmed the division 6a title with a game to spare thanks to a convincing 36 run victory, their 9th 25 point victory of the season. Boyne Hill have now amassed 319 points, 67 points more than the second placed team.

The Hill won the toss and elected to bat on a damp track in overcast conditions and did not get off to the best of starts with the early losses of Chris Goode and Adam Bailes. Skipper Owen Roberts stood firm at the other end and with the help of Nathan Whittingham began to build a partnership and push the Hill towards a defendable total. When Whittingham fell for 21, a flourish of wickets followed to leave the hill on 95 for 8, still short of the 100 run target required to confirm the league title. It was fitting that Roberts saw his team past this landmark to large celebrations from the on looking Boyne Hill faithful, but he fell shortly after for 36. That left Jonny Webb and Steve Abraham to push the Hill towards a respectable total, which they did. A tenth wicket partnership of 38 with Webb and Abraham scoring 20 a piece got the Hill up to 142 off 40 overs.

Boyne Hill then took the old ball with Paul Farnborough and Abraham continuing their successful partnership and making it difficult for the Chalfont openers, but the first wicket was thanks to an excellent piece of fielding from Whittingham and a run out. Abraham then came into his own claiming 4 wickets in a 19 over spell, taking his tally for the season up to 41. Webb and Roberts were then introduced and took the new ball to clean the tail up and bowl Chalfont out for 116, Webb ending with figure of 3 for 5 off 4.5 overs.

The Hill have one game remaining and hope to end the season on a high against the only team they have failed to beat so far this season.
