Match report A fine spell of bowling from Rizwan Ashraf gained Boyne Hill a 25 point win over Kidmore End on Saturday.

On a damp Boyne Grove track Hill lost an important toss and were asked to bat. With the ball swinging and seaming all over the place batting was very difficult and although Imran Butt(25) and Don Pike resisted for a while Hill eventually slumped to 95-7 in the face of some accurate seam bowling from Kidmore. Mohammad Qasier who had dropped anchor was then joined by Adam Bailes and as the track dried and the bowlers tired the pair took the attack to the visitors in a fine stand of 77 with Bailes making 39 including 2 large 6’s. Qasier made 69 before being adjudged LBW a fine innings in testing conditions. Hill were eventually bowled out for 195.

In reply the Hill attack also used conditions well but were not supported well in the field with a number of catches going down. At 90-3 Kidmore seemed poised for a chance of victory before the introduction of Ashraf changed the game. Bowling full and straight he took 3 wickets in an over as Kidmore collapsed. Don Pike took a fine diving catch at mid on off the spin of Nathan Whittingham and after a short rain break it was left to Ashraf to secure victory with a Yorker to finish with sensational figures of 7-23.

Boyne Hill move up to 3rd and this week travel to Reading 2nds.
